Why did you join MPI?

I joined MPI to get better connected with meeting and event planners in my area!  I have attended select education opportunities in the past with MPI and see the programming as a great resource.

How long have you been in the meetings/hospitality industry?

I have worked in Hospitality for over 25 years!  I have worked in private clubs for the past 16 years in both operations and sales positions and am excited to be at Medina Golf & Country Club as they complete the transition to joining the ClubCorp family.

How did you decide to get involved in this business? What influenced you?

I found the right role for myself when I landed at my first private club in 2002!  I loved the environment of a club, the beautiful surroundings, the personal relationships that are created with members and the ability to help members and guests have memorable events.

What’s the most valuable advice you’ve received about working with meetings?

I would say that I am more of a special events planner than a meeting planner, but the best advice I’ve ever received is really about organization.  It’s imperative that I am organized and efficient as I never have just one event at a time ☺  Also, people need immediate responses to questions!  I try to never leave my office for the day without replying to everyone that has reached out by email or phone.

What is one piece of advice about meeting planning you would share?

Again, really more specific to special events, but they need to be personal.  Each event is unique and the more customized the details are, the better!

What is one thing about this industry that you love?

I LOVE working with creative people!  Whether it’s a menu, décor or just general ideas on how to make your event stand out, I love creativity and trying new things.

What is one thing about the industry would you like to see changed?

I think it’s a great industry with lots of idea sharing, best practices and educational opportunities as well as great technology to connect people….so no big changes!

What do you do outside of work?

Outside of work, I have 2 teenagers so I am always running from one place to another to see games, pick up and drop off, grabbing meals on the run and just generally being in their presence whenever they allow me to be ☺  Every once in a while, I get to spend time with my husband too!  As a family, we enjoy our time at our cabin and love trying new restaurants for Birthday Dinners!
