Membership Committee 2017-2018
The Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting and engaging members. Inform members how to be involved in the chapter in order to get more value from their investment. As well as recognize member achievements.
Vice President of Membership
Assign committee chairs and provide oversight to the Membership and Recognition committees. Developing a new member welcome packet. Promoting twice yearly new member orientations. Implementing one membership drive per year. Organizing a greeting committee at each meeting to coordinate mingling and introductions of new members and guests.
Director of Membership Care and Retention
Responsible for developing and maintaining an active and ongoing campaign to retain MN Chapter members. Oversees the Retention Program, New Member Ambassador Program, Marketplace, Member UpClose, Membership 101, Member Mingles, EMPI Awards Nominations and Chapter Assessment Survey. Creates and executes a strategic plan to meet/exceed the annual membership retention goal as set by the MN Board and MPI Global.
Director of Membership Recruitment
Responsible for developing and maintaining an active and ongoing campaign to recruit ne MN Chapter members. Oversees Recruitment Program, Student Membership Program and Affiliate Recruitment Program. Creates and executes a strategic plan to meet/exceed the annual membership retention goal as set by the MN Board and MPI Global.
Co-Chair of Recognition: Work with Association Management Co. (Synergos) to confirm date to open annual EPMI Award Nominations on MPI MN Chapter website. Promote and seek EMPI Nominations. Recruit and select an EMPI Award Judging Committee. Tally EMPI Award nominations and provide recipients’ names to V.P. of Membership. Majority of work is done Jan-May. Average 1-2 hours per month with additional hours in April and May during peak EMPI activity period. Awards are presented at the June Gala event.
EMPI Volunteer: Assists Co-Chairs of Recognition with EMPI Award process. Majority of work is done Jan-May. 1-2 hours per month, with additional hours in April and May during peak EMPI activity period.
Up Close Volunteer: Solicit MPI members for Up Close & Personal Interviews from Suppliers, Planners and Students, to be published in the monthly MPI e-newsletter and on Social Media. Profile interviews are submitted via the Copy Submission Form on the MPI MN website. Track interview history to avoid duplication (3 years between interviews minimum). Portrait photos for articles are pulled from the Chapter Directory (if available; if not, ask candidate for photo). 1 hour per month.
Communications Liaison: Liaison between Membership and the Marketing & Communications committees. Writes monthly articles for Membership section of the newsletter, and assists with membership-related social media posts. 1-2 hours per month.
Chair of Member Engagement: Oversees the member engagement committee, recruits volunteers for tasks, delegates tasks to committee members. 2 hours per month.
Membership 101 Volunteer: Plans and executes (2) Membership 101 events per year including the promotion of the event. Typically occur in the fall and spring. These can be done jointly with a Mingle or a monthly meeting. 1-2 hours per month.
New Member Ambassador Volunteer: Oversees the New Member Ambassador Program to ensure participants are engaged. Work with Leadership Development to recruit ambassadors and assign to the new member. Complete event submission forms for the Ambassador Program events. 1-2 hours per month. Additional hours needed in the beginning of the year.
Mingles Volunteer: Plans and executes 3 Member Mingles per year including the promotion of the event. Typically occur fall, spring and summer. These can be done jointly with Membership 101 or a monthly meeting. It can also be done with other organizations. 1-2 hours per month.
Monthly (Grace) Calls Volunteer: Receives monthly report of grace/lapsed members and calls to ask about re-joining. Results are reported to the Membership Committee. 1 hour per month.
Chair of Recruitment: Oversees the recruitment sub-committee, recruits volunteers for tasks, assigns tasks to committee members. 3-4 hours per month.
Monthly (Prospect & Expired) Calls Volunteer: Receives monthly report of prospective and expired members, and calls to ask about re-joining. Results are reported to the Membership Committee. 1 to 2 hours per month.
Office Visits Volunteer: Plan and execute (2) corporate visits per year to educate and recruit new meeting planners. Follow up with those in attendance. 1-2 hours per month.
Referral Volunteer: Collect new member referrals and manage incentive reward program. Referral award drawing at the monthly MPI meeting (4 times per year). 1 hour per month.
Chair of Student Membership: Oversees the student membership sub-committee, recruits volunteers for tasks, delegates tasks to committee members. 3-4 hours per month.
College Visit Volunteer: Works with area colleges/universities/higher education institutions to schedule (2) visits to classes/organizations throughout the year to promote MPI. Most work typically occurs in Sept/Oct and Jan/Feb. 1-2 hours per month.
Student Engagement Volunteer: Connect with students registered to attend monthly meetings and other chapter events. Assist with questions student members/potential student members may have. 1-2 hours per month.
New Member Ambassador
The New Member Ambassador Committee is in place to assist the onboarding of new members to the MPI Minnesota Chapter. The goal is to have each new member be contacted right away by a current chapter member and make them feel comfortable at events and get them engaged by volunteering on a committee that suits their interests.
Membership Care and Retention
The Membership Care and Retention subcommittee provides connections, communication and events to current members, especially those considering renewal. This group hosts two Member Orientation events for new, renewing and refreshing current members. Attendees learn why and how to be involved in the chapter and to get more value from their investment. Retention also offers two mingles to promote networking opportunities to get to know the MPI Minnesota Chapter members. Engaging with members online, by phone and in person, this subcommittee answers questions, provides directions to online resources and suggests volunteer opportunities to suit interests. Membership Care is also in charge of the great EMPI Awards for the May Gala.
