Education Committee 2017-2018

The Education Committee is responsible for planning and implementing eight monthly programs, providing innovative and quality education topics and opportunities for professional and personal growth for MPI MN members.  Each month this committee helps coordinate logistics with the sponsoring venue and the monthly keynote speaker.

Vice President of Education
The Vice President’s responsibilities are to manage the business plan for the committee, manage check requests and submissions, and as needed on educational programs.  Time commitment 15-20 hours monthly 

Director of Education
The chief responsibilities of the Director of Education are managing the monthly Education programs and supporting the Vice President of Education in developing programs and managing event registration. Time commitment 8-10 hours monthly

Chair Descriptions

CMP Chair

This position is responsible for conducting four-yearly CMP boot camps and is a liaison between MPI chapter and Convention Industry Council, work with sponsorship chair to find facility locations, update information and website as needed with Synergos, recruit chapter CMPs for additional request assistance in topic presentation, prep course materials and supplies, update chapter with passing examinees information for recognition, submit CMP level questions and answers each month for the newsletter, produce CMP/CMM breakfast annually. Time commitment: 20 hours each quarterly bootcamp, 1 hour monthly

Grant Writing Chair

The responsibilities of the Grant Writing Chair are monitoring MPI Global for any upcoming grant offerings, including deadlines, writing of grants, submit submissions after reviewing them with the VP of education.  This position is a one year commitment.  Time commitment: 3-5 hours each cycle (July 3 – July 31, 2017 and January 15 – February 16, 2018)

Hybrid Co-Chairs

The responsibilities of the Hybrid Chair(s) are to oversee and plan content for integration into monthly meetings, drafts questions and secures interviewees, liaison between applicable parties, emcees live pre-show and shares information with Education team for reporting at monthly board meetings. The Hybrid Chair(s) will work closely with the Monthly Meeting Chair and team for execution of Hybrid marketing and postings. Time commitment: 3.5 hours monthly

Monthly Meeting Chair

The responsibilities of the Monthly Meeting Chair are to oversee monthly meetings and to support and manage Monthly Meeting teams to assure speakers are booked, events are posted and submitted for CIC credit.  Responsibilities also include the marketing plan and venue logistics are being executed in a timely fashion.  Time Commitment: 3 hours monthly

Speaker Logistics

The responsibilities of the Speaker Logistics are assisting in future monthly meeting planning, confirming speakers if not already selected, coordinate with Venue Logistics Team on needs and execution, communicate with speaker as needed prior to event, coordinate speaker travel and accommodations and submission of speaker expenses for payment.  Time Commitment: 5 hours monthly

Event Postings

The responsibilities of Event Postings are drafting web content for monthly meeting events and any other events that fall under the Education Committee, including contacting the Speaker Logistics for pertinent info on the speaker/content.  The Event Postings will supply information to various Committees and/or Association Management Company for approval and to have content posted.  The Event Postings will also be responsible for submitting course content to CIC for education credit.  This position is a one-year commitment. Time Commitment: 3 hours monthly

Marketing

The responsibilities of Marketing are to develop and supply content to the MarComm team via the content submission form for publications and coordinate with SA on any sponsorship exposure. Content includes: e-newsletter articles, event email reminders, post-event recap articles, social media posts and any additional marketing as needed.  Time Commitment: 3 hours monthly

Venue Logistics

The responsibilities of Venue Logistics team include handling the monthly meeting logistics: coordinate with the venue room set-up and AV needs, provide guarantee, coordinate with catering menu and provide dietary restrictions and F&B count, verify with Strategic Alliances any sponsors and/or in-kind sponsors that receive complimentary registration and communicate with Association Management Company (Synergos).  Provide any invoices to VP of Education for payment and facilitate in-kind donation form is completed post- event with donation amounts. Time Commitment: 4 hours monthly

iConnect Chair and Vice Chair

The job responsibilities of the iConnect Chair and Chair Elect include working with the iConnect planning committee in developing program flow and format, creating/managing content, booking speakers and handling their travel arrangements/accommodations and coordination of event production, marketing and logistics. Time Commitment: 7-8 hours monthly average

Year-End Celebration Chair and Vice Chair

The responsibilities of the Year-End Celebration Chair(s) are create the event while working with the out-going President that celebrates the culmination of the Minnesota Chapter’s past year accomplishments, EMPIs, Volunteer Recognition, and manage event logistics including: production company management, décor, entertainment, food and beverage decisions and script organization.  The planning committee consists of representatives from each committee. Time Commitment: 6-7 hours monthly average
